Arrival in Edmonton

Hi guys,
So we've arrived in Edmonton on Monday, luckily our hotel room has internet so I can post my video. It's a quickie, but as soon as I have some interesting photos I'll make sure to post them.
Right now we're doing all sorts of training at the University of Alberta, and heck it looks like we'll be hauling trailers all over the place. Besides training we haven't done anything really interesting.
Oh, and if you ever come out here, be aware of pedestrians... they don't look around before crossing the street... so this might be a challenge to our driving test tomorrow, hopefully it rains and we won't have to deal with very many people.

Anyways, that's it for now -- sorry gang nothing too exciting just yet.

What am I doing out west?

So apparently I haven't been in touch with a lot of people lately, which totally makes sense because I've been so consumed with my thesis/school the past few months. So I guess I haven't told very many people what I'm doing and where I'm going. So in case you didn't know, I signed up a masters here at Laurier -- and this summer I will be about an hour north of Slave Lake Alberta collecting data. More specifically, I'm looking at microscale CO2 fluxes in wetland/bog/riparian areas in the boreal forest. Why? Well that's a good question. I'll let you know what the data tells me in two years.

The Excitement Begins April 28th!

This blog was created to document my journeys and studies out west. It will be an interesting summer that for sure. I fly out of Ottawa on Monday the 28th of April and eventually end up in Edmonton with a layover in Calgary. I will try to keep posting as often as possible to keep everyone in the loop but I only get back to civilization every 10 days or so, so it won't be any faster than that... Sorry. No internet at camp apparently, at least not yet.
