Days off YAY!! We decided to chill in Edmonton these days off. So far the first night we went to a hooka (sp?) lounge -- see attached photos. The plan for tomorrow is a trip to either the zoo if it's nice out or the west Edmonton mall.

In the Field
So we've done our ten days... not too much happened, we worked, then people drank, oh! and we also say the northern lights!!! The real ones, not the ones you think you see in eastern/southern Ontario ;) They're green and they move around!!! Sorry I don't have any photos... I didn't think about getting the camera out.. but I will have to take photos of it next time. I just hope that my camera can get a shot of it.
So here are some photos and videos of us in action.
Videos:
Karen and the Boreal Forest
Karen and the Athabasca River

Yup... Kaitlin fell in the 1 foot deep mud.

The Rocky Mountains
Hello everyone.
Well, unfortunately our 4 days off went by incredibly fast however, the trip to the rocky mountains was well worth it. Carole-Anne and I went to Sunshine Village yesterday... who would have thought that you could ski/snowboard on may 2-4 weekend?? Anyways, it was the most awesome experience ever! I now have to come back in the winter which is apparently billion times better than the spring. The only suggestion I would make is ... bring your gear across the country even though you only plan on going once. The rentals took forever to get and the boots were awful -- my ankles are still swollen :( But it was totally worth it :) I didn't get any pictures of us on the mountain because my camera is enormous and wouldn't fit in my snowpants pocket -- I didn't wear my jacket and it was still too warm!
Today, we went to Cora's for breakfast -- yes I know it's un-original, but it's nice to have a taste of back home out here. In the afternoon we did a little shopping and this evening Carole-Anne and I went to a dinner theater show at Jubilations. The act was pretty funny and the food was pretty good -- it actually reminded me a bit of La Ferme Rouge (which is in Quebec for all of you from SW Ontario). Afterwards we went to the bar next door called Aussi Rules and they had a show called Dueling pianos -- you guessed it -- two guys and two grand pianos at the centre of the place playing whatever songs the crowd wanted. It was pretty good, the crowd went nuts when they played some Saskatchewan Song... something about barley, wheat... beer...? I just went along and said "hey" whenever it was time lol.
I'm too lazy/tired to hook-up my camera tonight to post the pictures we took of the rockies, maybe next time I post I will add them.
Tomorrow we head back to Edmonton, return the rental car and get picked up by friends of ours and get driven to Slave Lake -- Oh it's going to be a long day.
That's all folks!

Videos are Posted!
Hi everyone,
We finally reached our first four days off. We have been working non-stop for 18 days and sometimes those days were 12 to 13 hours, so you can imagine how tired I am. We are now in Calgary, Karen, Carole-Anne, and I. Tomorrow we plan on going to Sunshine village in Banff to go snowboarding. I haven't ever snowboarded on real mountains before so I'm totally excited!!! I will post pictures as soon as I can. For now, here are the following links to my blogging videos.
1. Stay in Edmonton. The view from our hotel room.
2. Heading downtown Edmonton.
3. Traveling from Slave Lake to our camp that is located about 1 hour north of Slave.
4. The Camp
5. Our first four days off - Going to Slave from Camp.

Crazy Week
So we've made it to Slave Lake AB however... we were stuck there for a few days because our truck got broken into... Mostly because we had our atv on the back trailer. After finally getting another truck sent up to us, we finally reached our camp and eventually went out to see the study site. I'll try to post pictures/videos of the camp and the study site, but right now I don't have the time. I'll post again in 9 days.
